What is ART?
The memory stays. The suffering doesn't.
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is an evidence-based psychotherapy that uses guided eye movements and voluntary image replacement to help your brain process distressing memories differently. Rather than the memory triggering the same emotional storm every time you encounter it, ART helps your brain reorganize how that memory is stored — so it no longer hijacks your nervous system.
You keep every detail of what happened. You simply lose the overwhelming emotional and physical reaction to it. Many clients describe their first ART session as the first time they could think about a particular memory without their body going into panic.
Why ART is particularly powerful for mothers facing divorce
- Past wounds from your marriage or childhood are amplifying your current fears and clouding your judgment
- Intrusive memories, nightmares, or chronic anxiety is disrupting your sleep and your ability to be present
- The fear response is so intense you can't think clearly about your choices and your children's needs
- You want fast, lasting relief so you can parent from peace rather than from survival mode
A typical ART session
What to expect
step by step.
1
Identify the issue
We identify which memory or issue is causing distress. You don’t describe it in detail — just bring it to mind.
2
Guided eye movements
I guide you through specific eye movement sequences while you hold the memory. This activates your brain’s natural reprocessing.
3
Image replacement
We use visualization to voluntarily replace distressing images with calm, neutral ones. This is where the lasting shift happens.
4
Integration
Your brain integrates the new experience. Most clients leave their first session noticeably and measurably lighter.
What ART isn’t:
- It’s not hypnosis — you’re always conscious, aware, and in control
- It doesn’t require you to go into detail about painful memories
- It’s not a long, drawn-out process — many people experience relief within 1–5 sessions
- It doesn’t make decisions for you — it simply helps clear the mental clutter so you can move forward with confidence

ART FAQ
Common questions about ART therapy.
How many ART sessions will I need?
Most clients experience meaningful improvement within 1–5 sessions. Some issues resolve in a single session. Complex trauma or multiple distinct memories may take more, but visible progress typically happens very quickly — far faster than traditional talk therapy models.
Do I have to describe what happened in detail?
No — and many clients find this the most liberating aspect of ART. The therapy works with the images and sensations your brain holds around an experience, not with a verbal narrative of it. You don’t need to tell me the story. We work directly with the internal experience.
Is ART effective for PTSD and trauma?
Can ART be done online?
Yes, ART is effective via video session and is available online for Florida residents. It works remarkably well in the virtual format. For clients outside Florida, in-person intensive sessions and retreats are available in Sarasota.
